Treasurers’ Report – Mary Wiginton
Mary reported we have $25506.86 in the bank.
$15,515.88 is earmarked for the entrance & columns.
$9990.98 available funds.
Mary talked about the new budget. She suggested the Easter Activity increases from $100 to $150. The July 4th Celebration increase to $200. Add a line item for the Police ($160) who we use at Halloween. Reduce Halloween to $150 and change the Potluck to the Annual Meeting with $150 in the budget to buy pizza and drinks.
KUB sent a check for $150.00 for the 2 trees they damaged during the sewer line project. We bought 2 additional trees and soil conditioning material.
We changed the meeting space from $200 to $100 since we only meet there one time a year.
We will continue to give $100 to the South Knoxville Elementary School PTCA.
We have $100 to go towards the Christmas Wreaths.
A copy of the budget and transactions as well as the IHPNA Entrance & Column project was given to the board members.
Membership – Connie Vogt
We are off to a good start with 82 members after the first contacts.
Ashley Capps/Birgit Clark and Judy Gaston/John Finger were the winners of the drawing for the $30.00 Gift Cards from Stanley’s Greenhouse of all the 82 families who have their membership paid.
Angie will set-up a table at the Easter Egg Hunt to try and collect more memberships.
Nancy Campbell will give the neighborhood representatives a list of who has/has not paid their dues. Hopefully with a 2nd visit to the homes of those who haven’t paid will bring in some more memberships. This should be completed by April 20th.
Tree Trimming & Christmas Tree
The park has been restored after all the tree trimming. The city will grind the tree stumps. The city arborist, Kasey Krouse, talked with Nancy about plans to replace trees in Island Home Park. He mentioned River Birch and Chinese Pistache Trees. According to David Brace, the city is committed to the dogwoods on the boulevard.
Kasey will recommend the kind of tree we need to replace our Christmas Tree which is in bad shape. We may have to postpone the planting until the fall. A motion was made to go ahead with replacing the tree according to Kasey’s recommendation. (CW/MJ). Passed.
River’s Edge Apartment Expansion
Joe talked with John Gumpert and said he plans to add 70/80 more apartments. He is currently trying to get his deal together. One hold up will be the foundation because it will need to go all the way down to the bedrock which was covered with piles of the dirt they moved when they built the original apartments. At this point, there has been no paperwork filed with the city.
Casey Field will work on a letter to the City of Knoxville and have it ready to send in case we need to voice our opinion about the expansion.
The trees cut at the top of Hillwood were from the airport tree cutting project.
Bill Hahnemann will be meeting with Vulcan to discuss the 2018 blasting results.
Fisher Place Columns Project
Tennessee Marble Company has helped us so much to get this project back on track. We now have an agreement with Buddy Mulkey to haul the marble and doing the pitching of the marble. He has taken 8 old tombstones he had at his business to TN Marble Company to be cut and used for the pillars.
The Office of Neighborhoods and Community TV are working with neighborhoods to have a Treasure Hunt to help raise money for your neighborhood. Neighbors would donate items to be auctioned on CTV. The person making the donation would be required to meet the buyer and collect the money. Kevin Jeske-Polyak, from the Southside Waterfront Neighborhood Association, is the contact. We decided to wait and see the results of this 1st time event.
Nancy Campbell, Joe Hultquist and Michael Jordan are representing us on SKNBA.
